Wine kits will generally come supplied with all the chemicals and additives you need (except steriliser), but if you are making wines from fruit juice, or if you are making country wines, then you will need to additives during the home brew process.

Pectolase is used in fruit-based wines to help extract juice from the fruit and prent hazing, tannin and acids will give you wine bite while glycerin will improve mouth-feel. Campden tablets (Sodium Metabisulphite) can be used for sterilising, but in smaller quantities are used as preserving and anti-oxidation agents.

Finings are used to help your wine clear after fermentation has finished. Some fining agents contain animal derivatives and therfore may not be suitable for vegetarians, please check the product description for details.
