Carboy - glass 23 litres (5 gallons)

Carboys are the traditional 5-gallon / 23 litre fermenter for wine, but can be used to ferment beer, cider and spirits, as well. The neck is wider than a demijohn, so requires the use of a carboy cap, rather than a bung. It is also recommended that a handle is attached, to assist in lifting and moving the carboy, once it is filled.
